TRIPinfo.com, a leading online resource for travel professionals booking groups in the United States, has selected the Master Musicians Festival in Somerset, KY, as one of 54 Famous American Festivals.
The website has developed a comprehensive database of more than 3,000 festivals across the country, and for this distinction, selected 54 that represented many different facets of American life.
MMF was one of two festivals in Kentucky highlighted in the website’s summer festival guide. The second was the Kentucky Derby Festival in Louisville.
“It is such an honor for our festival to be recognized for all the things that make it unique — our dedication to bringing diverse musical excellence to rural Kentucky, supporting local and regional artists, and honoring musicians who have devoted their lives to preserving musical heritage,” said MMF President Tiffany Bourne. “We hope people from across the nation will continue to visit Lake Cumberland, attend MMF and learn more about what makes our community such a special place.”
Now in its 24th year, Master Musicians Festival was named the Southeast Tourism Society's "Festival of the Year" for 2013 and has been featured in numerous publications and web reviews. MMF is held annually the second weekend in July at Somerset Community College’s Festival Field.
